After having read the book myself and listening to Stephen address many questions regarding his thinking following the publishing of the book, it’s clear that he and others in his stream of thinking are not advocating gospel expansion through political means. Please read that sentence again. Rather, they are teaching a theology of politics, culture making and society building with in a Christian framework. Doug Wilson often paints the picture of our society hypothetically, like Nineveh, repenting of its sin and turning to God in mass. What do we do then? How would a nation of mostly Christians (not a nation of forced Christians) order itself according to God’s word. That’s where Stephens book comes in. If Jesus footstools a nation, not with a carnal sword, but the sword of his mouth (the gospel) what would that society look like. It ought to look like a society that honors Christ in all that it does and order itself for the good of its people. Even many atheists and religious adjacent people like Richard Dawkins and Elon Musk acknowledgement that they would rather live in a society organized by Christians over a society organize by muslims. That’s all this is.

My favorite translations are NKJV, NIV, and NLT.

In a Constitutional republic, each mentally competent believer and citizen has an obligation to vote for the candidates and parties that uphold individual freedom, truth, and righteousness !!! Your use of "gender accurate" for the neutral NRSV is very misleading as it implies the actual biblical inclusive generic masculine is inaccurate. The neutral language should be called inaccurate for diverting from the generic invlusive masculine. Which creates a snow ball effect of culture resulting in men physically beating women in entertainment sports like gladiators, and erasure of women altogether. So the generic masculine saves women's identity

Although I much prefer the masculine pronouns found in the KJV and the NKJV, this is the best commentary I have yet come across on this subject. My attitude towards what I understood to be gender-neutral or inclusive translations is somewhat softened. Thanks for the enlightening explanation!

Then why are so many versus missing out of the NLT Bible compared to the New King James

I have always been confused that an anthropomorphic God, who seems to know and express love, who speaks of Himself in a family way making mankind in His likeness…male, female, children, repeat. Why is God described as Father, Son and Holy Spirit? Why not Father, Mother, Son?

I don't speak The King's English....we threw off that yoke in 1776, so, "thee, thou, art, gavest, etc." I am sure these are words that Yeshua wouldn't have used either, along with His Greek Name. Yeshua was Hebrew, not, Greek. Plus, if a word is italicized in the KJV that means it was added....sorry KJ Only Believers. Finally, we do not use the 1611, we are reading the 1769 KJV Cambridge Edition, so, it has been updated, like the Translators said would need to happen.

The only question I have is are they going to update/revise this translation for a 3rd time? When I got the HCSB, there was a number of errors and grammar and other problems so I switched back to my NKJV, NASB95, ESV versions. Then, years later, they did the CSB but was not the same as the HCSB. But I did see the HCSB was revised a number of times, up to 2009. So I got that one. Similar with the ESV and CSB. So, my question is if I should hold off on getting the LSB until they are "settled" on that one being "finished" or is the 2nd edition the staying one?

Why? Because it is yet another completely uninspired translation that should be thrown in the trash.

In the Latin Vulgate, that verse translated like this: "et ait: Faciamus hominem ad imaginem..." The word "hominem" in the text means "human being" (in accusative case); so, if you are a Catholic there is no problem. 😅

Why not question the Triquetra symbol on the cover, though? The Celtic triangle, or triple knot, was believed to create an unbreakable circle of protection. It symbolizes the fact that the physical, mental and spiritual are all intertwined. Apart from being the symbol of Odin during Pagan times, it is also the symbol of the mother goddess and moon goddess.

Hi Tim, there was a minor revision of the 1982 NKJV in 1984.

It is really sad that sellers are asking over £100 for these now and that the printer stopped their plan to make an update. I was one who was holding out for the update. I would buy this if available at a reasonable price but I would like an updated version.

It appears these imitation leather versions use the same GSM paper as the goat skin counterparts without the gilt edges. Possible rebind candidate.

The same can be said about The Message Bible. I'm disappointed about the removal of TPT from Bible Gateway. Rather than giving in to pressure, leave it on and if people don't like it they don't have to choose it.

I don't really trust John Macarthur's theology. Any product of his would not be reliable. That's just my POV if anyone cares.🤔 He would surely make it compulsory textbook for all students of his Master's Seminary.

I almost fell into the KJVO circle. I thank Humble Lamb for putting together their NASB HIStory. Up until receiving it I was set on only reading the KJV. I purchased the HIStory simply because I thought the workmanship was amazing… little did I know, I fell head over heels for the translation.🫣 Soon afterwards I began enjoying the NIV. My understanding of the WORD has truly benefitted from the NASB and NIV complimenting my study of the KJV. I now sprinkle a little NKJV and ESV when i get a feeling for them. Looking back, Peter Ruckman almost lead me down a road that would have put blinders on my line of sight. The Holy Spirit compelled me to grab that NASB and it was truly a blessing.
